Our goal is to give young girls the opportunity to learn a new sport among their peers. More to the point, we give them access to a game and a world that has been male dominated for centuries. We do not evaluate their skills or progress in any quantitative measure. The impact of their participation in Girls Golf is known only to them, when they find their voice to stand up for themselves in any situation -- not just golf. We are "Building Game Changers" in this class, not just changing a game to include women.
Do you have a story of how your program positively changed participant's situation, behavior, or knowledge?

One of the very special sparks of Girls Golf are the coaches who teach the program. It is challenging for anyone to teach young children, but these young women (late teens, early 20s), most of whom started in Girls Golf themselves, take on a personal and deeper sense of responsibility to make the program as valuable as possible for each individual in the class. I overhear them strategizing about how to help one girl overcome shyness, or how to get another to be more inclusive. They come to the job every single day with the goal of making a real difference in the life of every young girl they teach. They know and mentor them in a way that really can't be duplicated anywhere else. The girls, in turn, love, trust and respect their coaches. Together, as a group, they rise.

Girls Golf will be funded from our general operating budget, which is comprised of 90% charitable donations and 10% participant fees.
