Project results and Impact
How many girls/women have been served by the project during this project year?
80% of our clients are girls/women, and 843 sessions were completed in 2022. This number has increased by 103 sessions from 2021 to 2022.
Goal of the Project
Did you meet your program goals for the grant period?
If yes, how do you know? Please describe any program evaluation you use:
If no, please describe current barriers and how you are working to overcome them:
$25,625 in scholarships have been awarded from January to December 2022. The funding from the Hestia Group helped NMET provide much-needed scholarships to women and girls who could not otherwise afford our services.
Do you have a story of how your program positively changed participant's situation, behavior, or knowledge?
If so, please share it:
On a daily basis we at NMET are lucky to be able to witness horses healing humans. Data compiled from our HorseSense® programs pre and post surveys show that two out of three participants experienced an increased ability to communicate feelings and needs. One participant in particular had stated that she learned valuable life skills, that can now be applied to her everyday life. By improving communication, confidence and practicing important self - development tools, NMET is making positive contributions to our community now, and in the future.
Sustainability
Will this project continue?
If so, how will it be funded?
If not, why not?
With hard work and dedication to the community, Northern Michigan Equine Therapy is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a non-profit in 2023. During that time, NMET has been funded by local businesses & individuals, local grants, service clubs and foundations. We could not do what we do without these donations, and we appreciate them beyond measure. Our therapy scholarship fund is our key to successfully treating all who would benefit from our services no matter the financial situation. NMET is committed to our community, by creating a safe support system, providing continued education and dialogue to bring awareness to individuals with disabilities and decrease the stigma around mental health and encourage individuals to reach out for help.
Public Relations
How did you publicize this grant?
Please list any examples.
The Hestia Women's Giving Circle was featured in our monthly newsletter, across our social media channels, and is printed on our year round “Platinum Donor” indoor arena banner. We also include your support in our 2022 annual report.
Summary Comments
The generosity of the Hestia Women's Giving Circle is greatly appreciated. Northern Michigan Equine Therapy is a small but mighty nonprofit and we are thankful you recognized the value our programs give to women and girls in our community.
If you would like a copy of our annual report and the newsletter announcing Hestia's support to NMET we would be happy to forward along. Please let us know what email would be best. Thank you!
