Project results and Impact
How many girls/women have been served by the project during this project year?
We gave two different families financial assistance for Day Camp. One was for a girl to attend one week of Day Camp who has some cognitive delays, we gave her an 80% assistance, which was $180 in assistance. We also gave a single mom assistance for her son to attend Day Camp for two weeks. We gave her 50% assistance for the two weeks, which was $225 total for the two weeks. Another student received the 80% assistance, which was $180. So, in total, we gave out $585 in assistance that directly effected women/girls.
In total, we served 49 unique girls at Day Camp. Financial Assistance was an option for all campers to apply for.
Goal of the Project
Did you meet your program goals for the grant period?
If yes, how do you know? Please describe any program evaluation you use:
If no, please describe current barriers and how you are working to overcome them:
Parents were so appreciative of the Day Camp option as a childcare alternative this summer. The kids were active and experienced new recreation opportunities daily. The Camp Daggett campus was the perfect place to house this new program. We did not have any financial assistance available so we kept the program fee below our cost to ease the burden on families.
Do you have a story of how your program positively changed participant's situation, behavior, or knowledge?
If so, please share it:
Here are a few quotes from parents of female Day Campers we received during our surveys:
"Our camper loved her time there. She is someone who is very 'slow to warm up' to new people and places, but by the end of camp she asked if she could do it again next year because she had so much fun—which is huge!!" Female, Age 5
"I grew up attending Camp Daggett’s summer camp program. As a parent I was excited for my daughter to have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and team activities that Daggett has to offer." Female, Age 6
Sustainability
Will this project continue?
If so, how will it be funded?
If not, why not?
We plan to increase the count in 2025 from 30 campers (final availability based on staffing). Financial assistance will continue to be available to all registrants.
Public Relations
How did you publicize this grant?
Please list any examples.
The Hestia Grant will be mentioned in our Day Camp press release and was also put in our newsletter and a designated social post on the grant on June 21st.
Summary Comments
This program was extremely well received and an awesome addition to Camp Daggett offerings. Having Hestia step up and build that foundation of financial assistance was a major lift to the program. Knowing that this level of programming is available to all children and not just those who can afford it is a perfect partnership for Camp and Hestia as we support healthy families.
