Project results and Impact
How many girls/women have been served by the project during this project year?
Sixty-seven individuals registered for the in-person Perinatal Substance Use Harm Reduction Training and fifty-four individuals attended. Of those in attendance, the will go on to service women and children at thirty-one different organizations and entities.

With fifty-four attendees, spanning thirty-one individual organizations/entities being represented at this training, we are confident that women and families interacting with these entities will receive more compassion and informed care, sharing information and resources related to the spectrum of harm-reduction ranging from abstinence to safer use. All those in attendance reported learning something new and most indicated they would be interested in using the PSUD Harm Reduction Toolkit that will launch Summer of 2025. Additionally, due to the significant interest across the state, we have worked with other funders to collaborate in offering this same training in a virtual platform, creating even more access. That training will take place mid April 2025. As of 4/8/25 499 individuals from across the state, and some the nation, have registered for that training.

This project will continue with a virtual training offering, followed by the launch of a Michigan specific Pregnancy and Substance Use: A Harm Reduction Toolkit and a virtual "launch party" to introduce and reinvigorate the community in use of the toolkit upon completion. The virtual training is a collaboration with the Northwest Michigan Community Health Innovation Region, Substance Use workgroup lead by District Health Dept. 10. The funding will come from a grant award provided by the Michigan Public Health Endowment. The toolkit is being fully funded by Community Recovery Alliance. The Great Start Collaborative will be funding the virtual launch session for the toolkit, which became an option due to Molina's support for food and CEU for the training. The toolkits will be available at no cost virtually and many entities including the Regional Perinatal Quality Collaborative or looking for ways to fund printed toolkits.

Summary Comments
Thank you so very much for once again providing us an opportunity to start a project and let the roots spread and strengthen along the way. Having your support to get us started has been instrumental to both our doula work and this work. Gaining steam along the way has lead us further and farther. In this project specifically, the project continuation pieces will allow us to impact the entire state of Michigan and beyond with no additional cost, etc.
