Project results and Impact
How many girls/women have been served by the project during this project year?
The Empowering Bright Futures capital campaign has funded the renovations and infrastructure of the new WRCNM campus, where several programs are currently and will be operating. The Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) and licensed therapy services are providing critical services to adult and child survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and other forms of gender-based violence.
Since Hestia funds were received, approximately 100 women and girls have been served at the site with trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy, therapy, and forensic interview services. WRCNM anticipates providing services for approximately 300 adult survivors, 100 child survivors, and about 60 students from Emmet and Charlevoix counties annually at the new building.
Goal of the Project
Did you meet your program goals for the grant period?
If yes, how do you know? Please describe any program evaluation you use:
If no, please describe current barriers and how you are working to overcome them:
The goals of the Empowering Bright Futures campaign were to design and execute building renovations that provide expanded services to our community, including childcare, preschool, CAC services, and licensed therapeutic counseling.
CAC and counseling services are being provided at the new campus, and Children's Learning Center (CLC) programs will transition to the new space upon approval by Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), anticipated for late May and into June of 2025. WRCNM anticipates being licensed for approximately 63 children across CLC programs.
Do you have a story of how your program positively changed participant's situation, behavior, or knowledge?
If so, please share it:
WRCNM services help improve the lives and well-being of women, children, and families across Emmet and Charlevoix counties. For decades, survivors have shared their stories of empowerment and strength with WRCNM staff.
The impact of WRCNM services can include, but is not limited to, physical safety, healing from trauma, enhanced opportunities, and access to resources.
Sustainability
Will this project continue?
If so, how will it be funded?
If not, why not?
The Empowering Bright Futures capital campaign will continue until the $5M goal has been met, even as renovations are completed and programs are operating from the new building. This one-time project will have a lasting impact for women and girls in Emmet and Charlevoix counties.
As of May 1, 2025, approximately 76% of the total goal has been raised for the campaign. Individual and household gifts, private grants, community grants, and gifts of stock have funded the campaign. WRCNM has made a $1M commitment to the campaign from the future sale of the previous building and two bequests.
Public Relations
How did you publicize this grant?
Please list any examples.
This grant will be recognized in campaign donor recognition materials, including an impact report and custom artwork installed at the new building.
