Families in need completed financial assistance forms. No one who was qualified was denied. This allows for access and inclusivity for all Char-Em Intermediate School District families regardless of income.

Multiple families have come to us in gratitude for offering the Day Camp program. This has become a key tool as parents struggle to find affordable care options in the summer. The addition of financial assistance further eased the burden. Families are thrilled to have their children exploring the outdoors while learning and interacting with the core values of The Full Value Agreement underlying programming.

Day Camp has become a perfect extension of our overnight camping program which is moving into its 101st year in operation. We are investing $1.2 million in the adventure center to better serve the needs of day campers and year-round adventure education students.

Financial assistance plays a vital role in ensuring that day camp opportunities remain accessible to all children, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. Camps provide more than recreation—they foster personal growth, social development, confidence, and a sense of belonging. For many families, however, the cost can be a barrier. Financial assistance helps remove that barrier, allowing children to participate in experiences that support their emotional well-being, build friendships, and create lasting memories. By investing in accessibility like this Hestia grant, camps strengthen not only individual participants but also the broader community, ensuring that the benefits of these formative experiences are shared as widely as possible.
