Project results and Impact
How many girls/women have been served by the project during this project year?
There were 217 visits for emergency kits, slightly below our projected 250. To reduce waste and better meet individual needs, we allowed recipients to select the items most relevant to their households. In addition, we distributed 50 gas cards to individuals facing significant financial hardship, helping them manage essential transportation costs.

The goal of the emergency kits was to help lessen the financial burden that women and families are facing in our community. With the cost of living in our area increasing, basic necessities have become unaffordable. Thanks to the support of Hestia, Manna was able to successfully provide additional support to individuals so that they could use their funds for other crucial needs. For many women and families we serve, food insecurity and financial hardship can be temporary. One unexpected car repair or medical expense can make the difference when it comes to affording groceries and personal hygiene items. The emergency kits were able to successfully alleviate both a financial burden and stress that these families faced.
Do you have a story of how your program positively changed participant's situation, behavior, or knowledge?

A great example of the success of this program is with the women we serve from a local rehabilitation center. Notably, Manna has served as a starting point for women who have recently gone through a substance use and addition recovery center. These women enter into a sober living facility where food and personal expenses are the responsibility of each woman. Fresh out of rehab, they need a starting point as they navigate their new lives. These women come to Manna for food and other essentials. We have been able to provide shampoos, soaps, razors, deodorant, tampons, pads, toilet paper, and more – helping to give them a foundation as they build back a better life for themselves.

Manna will continue to seek funding to help sustain this important program. People have benefited from the emergency kits when they come in to get food. The extra items have been extremely helpful for people, and they are grateful to receive them.
