Project results and Impact

How many girls/women have been served by the project during this project year?

There were 3 girls that were able to go to HOSA international competition. These girls gained confidence in themselves and what they can do if they try. They never believed they could win at the state level and even make it to nationals. They worked hard fundraising to be able to go to Orlando.

Goal of the Project

Did you meet your program goals for the grant period?

If yes, how do you know? Please describe any program evaluation you use:

If no, please describe current barriers and how you are working to overcome them:

These girls were able to compete in international HOSA competition against other students from all over the world. They met many different students from all different states and countries. One student was able to take a test on emergency medicine and which was at a higher level than she had had in class and only missed passing by one point. She found she could do more that she thought.

Do you have a story of how your program positively changed participant's situation, behavior, or knowledge?

If so, please share it:

One of the students was planning on going on to school for EMT training and due to the class and HOSA she had the confidence to take the EMR state exam after turning 18 and became a certified emergency medical responder before even entering college to do her EMT training.

Sustainability

Will this project continue?

If so, how will it be funded?

If not, why not?

I sincerely hope so, These students are learning life skills In Medical occupations and HOSA is a program that teaches leadership and gives students the confidence to continue their education in the medical field and works to train them as leaders in their field. Jenna Koehler has taken over as medical occupations teacher and before Covid took a number to students to HOSA competition she has a great start to building new medical leaders!

Public Relations

How did you publicize this grant?

Please list any examples.

It was publicized in the high school news. and I am sorry I do not remember if it was anywhere else.

Summary Comments

Sorry this is so late, I did have it written up last summer and the program was not as user friendly as this one and I lost all the data when trying to get a format I could send in. The students that went to international competition had all graduated from high school 2 weeks before the competition and I did not hear from them after. All three seemed to be more confident in themselves and what they could do. They did not place at internationals but they learned alot about themselves. If you are interested in what they are doing now Karin Grangood HIgh school secretary usually reaches out to all previous year health occupation students to see if they are continuing in health occupations. Thank you again for helping these students compete in an international competition. AS I no longer have access to actual numbers budget form is est. Travel, hotel, registration is actual. Any questions please feel free to contact me at above numbers, email
