Project Description:
We give girls age 9-14 the opportunity to learn a lifelong sport together, gaining skills that will help them succeed in a man's world, on and off the golf course. This program is the only single-gender summer class available for girls in Emmet County.

Girls' parents register them through our website. Financial Aid can be requested during the registration process. Thanks to our Jeffrey P. Mathews Scholarship Fund, we are able to award aid to every girl who requests it.
What do you hope to achieve? What difference will this make in the lives of women and girls?
How will this project meet Hestia's mission statement?
Single-gender learning is proven to be more effective for all adolescents, but especially girls. In addition, girls' self-confidence is measured to plummet 30% between the ages of 8 and 14. (AMightyGirl.com, 5/12/20) Girls Golf provides both the environment and the skills to strengthen girls' confidence during these challenging years. The game of golf also opens doors to college scholarships and male-dominated businesses.
How will you evaluate or measure your success:
Our Girls Golf players currently and previously receive(d) golf-related scholarships at Eastern Michigan University, Aquinas College, Lake Superior State, Albion College, Ferris State, St. Olaf's College, Grand Valley State, Northern Michigan University, and Michigan Tech. Many of our alums return every summer to coach the program and mentor the younger girls, further evidence that their skills, values and character are powerful.
