How will this project meet Hestia's mission statement?
It is important for us at Good Neighbors Food Pantry to help our clients who face food insecurity by providing healthy food and access to other items that contribute to their overall sense of wellbeing. For our women in particular, having access to feminine products is important to their sense of dignity and comfort. Our younger girls can participate in their school activities more fully when not worried about having proper protection or missing school altogether when they have their menstrual period. Our senior women have comfortable bladder protection items available to them which can help avoid any embarrassment or reluctance to be be out in public. Women facing food insecurity are able to focus their dollars towards food, knowing they do not have to forgo their own personal needs. Whether at school, home or in the workplace, knowing that they have access to the products they need can provide greater comfort and self-confidence. With this grant Good Neighbors Food Pantry is helping to address the issue of period poverty in our area.
How will you evaluate or measure your success:
Hestia Women's Giving Circle has funded this program for the last 4 years and we have seen the need grow especially since our return to in-person shopping after the Covid pandemic ended.
