Project Description:

Girls ages 11 to 18, in all economic situations, deserve quality free afterschool and out-of-school programming to provide enrichment opportunities. Recent studies show that middle and high school youth are experiencing more anxiety, depression, loneliness, and stress in their young lives. Afterschool programs allow young people to develop essential life skills, such as working collaboratively, learning coping skills, forming healthy relationships, and making responsible decisions while learning their personal and individual character strengths and growth mindset. Participation in safe and fun after-school learning programs improves self-confidence, self-awareness, and positive social behaviors and decreases problem behaviors for all children. Northmen Den Youth Services has chosen Discover YOU, based in Midland, Michigan, to be our foundational core curriculum, for it teaches girls and boys to embrace their future with Courage, Confidence, and Connection with others.
