Project Description:

The gym equipment that Blackbird Child Care Center utilizes currently was mostly donated from Shay Elementary, community members, or some we have purchased over the years. Most of the items we had donated to us came in well loved condition and are getting to the point of no longer being usable due to wear and tear. With having to retire some of our well loved equipment, and not currently having the funding to replace these items due to other expenses, we now have a shortage of equipment for our children to use. Funding from Hestia would allow us to purchase enough new equipment that can be used and enjoyed by our children for years to come!

Goal of the Project

How many people will you reach?

135

What percentage are female?

50

If your program serves both males and females, how will Hestia funds specifically target women and girls?

Though we serve both boys and girls in our program any materials purchased with funding through Hestia will give girls in our program the excitement and joy of having balls to kick and throw with friends, jump ropes, and hula hoops to twirl and jump, streamers and ribbons to dance with, and a plethora of other items to help little girls foster their motor skills and capabilities alongside their peers.

How are recipients identified or selected to receive services?  Is financial need considered?

All children within Blackbird Child Care Center will have the opportunity to use any equipment funded by this grant.

What do you hope to achieve? What difference will this make in the lives of women and girls?
How will this project meet Hestia's mission statement?

We hope to provide an adequate amount of gym/gross-motor equipment to provide all children within Blackbird Child Care Center a well rounded and impactful experience in our program. Having new and updated equipment will give children more opportunities to explore and build their capabilities and meet developmental milestones and expectations and ensure the well-being and safety.

How will you evaluate or measure your success:

By tracking the interactions and activities of the children as they use the equipment.
