Project Description:
I understand that I'm applying outside of the due date for grants; however, we just received our non-profit status on May 30, so I feel we should still apply.
We currently have an Equine Empowerment Program during the summer that is offered to girls ages 11 to 18 years of age. We also work with women and teenagers with our private Equine Gestalt Coaching programs. I invested in a massive change to our property when we started the installation of a level arena where people can be with the horses on safe, level ground.

If your program serves both males and females, how will Hestia funds specifically target women and girls?
Because of the percentage of our programs being almost all females, I feel the grant would assist our population of women and female children. On occasion, we will have male clients; however, they are usually young boys for our lesson program or one or two male clients in a year.
How are recipients identified or selected to receive services? Is financial need considered?
Recipients reach out to me specifically if they feel that Equine Assisted Programs will empower their daughter or themselves in regards to how they are functioning in life. Emotional wellbeing is paramount to a woman's success in life. Our programs are designed to encourage women, empower them to move forward and release thoughts and beliefs that are holding them back, including traumatizing experiences, loss, anxiety, and depression.
What do you hope to achieve? What difference will this make in the lives of women and girls?
How will this project meet Hestia's mission statement?
We will achieve more access to women and teens with the completion of our arena. Currently, we have a 60 foot round pen that is used for work with the horses. With our arena, that is 60 X 100 feet, we can have entire groups of women safely work with a horse or several horses and allow for level ground that is safe in a private area. We know Equine Gestalt and Equine Empowerment programs work for humans. Horses heal humans! Just by standing next to these 1,000 lb, sentient beings, they slow our heart rate and blood pressure. They also mirror our feelings and communicate non-verbally allowing quick, accurate feedback to our clients. This project will meet Hestia's mission statement of helping women and girls become more economically self-sufficient because clients leave our programs believing in themselves. Women are able to release everything that is holding them back mentally, emotionally, and spiritually so that they can move forward in life.
How will you evaluate or measure your success:
I will measure the effectiveness of this project by keeping accurate records of our attendance and participation in our programs. In 2023, we held 44 private sessions for women and over 100 lessons for girls. In 2024, we held 107 private sessions for women and no lessons, due to the fact that we did not have a safe place for girls to participate in equine assisted learning and lessons. This year, in 2025, we held 51 private coaching session already and started our lesson program with a total of 27 lessons so far. We will continue to collect data every year that we operate to ensure our grantors know how helpful our unique equine coaching programs are. We also collect testimonials and exit surveys at the end of each summer Empowerment with Equines program.
