Project Description:

We will be utilizing several research based techniques, tools and books to help girls, kindergarten through sixth grade, identify relational aggression, develop healthy communication skills, practice conflict resolution and restorative repair, build empathy and emotional awareness, both social and personal, and develop tools that assist them through life.
This will be achieved through an initial six week programming session (grouped by age with no more than 8 students per 6 week session) led by school mental health and behavior support staff. Meetings will occur during school hours utilizing hands on application/role modeling, then allowing participants to "teach out" within the school to others. There will be an end of year graduation celebration to recognize participants' hard work and achievement.

How are recipients identified or selected to receive services?  Is financial need considered?

Students will be identified based off of behavioral data, teacher/staff referral, and guardian request.

What do you hope to achieve? What difference will this make in the lives of women and girls?
How will this project meet Hestia's mission statement?

We hope to achieve a measurable decrease in behavioral referrals that are centered upon relational aggression.
Through achieving this, we will be teaching young girls how to support one another, develop healthy boundaries and a sense of self awareness and personal worth.
This directly aligns with Hestia's mission statement by promoting the well being and development of girls into strong, socially skilled women.

How will you evaluate or measure your success:

We will be measuring effectiveness utilizing comparative behavioral data as well as teacher/staff and guardian input through before and after questionnaires containing both quantitative and qualitative input.
